“The Strange Highway” Album Release

Gity’s debut solo album on Sweden’s historic BIS Records was released August 2022, and most notably featured her dramatic and darkly exquisite writing for strings.

Released on August 5, 2022 by BIS Record, the album features music she has composed over the last fifteen years as recorded by cellist Inbal Segev (Legend of Sigh), All-American Cello Band from Cello Biennale Amsterdam (The Strange Highway), violinist Francesca dePasquale and pianist Scott Cuellar (Duo), violist Katharina Kang Litton (Spellbound), and Metropolis Ensemble conducted by Andrew Cyr (Metamorphosis of Narcissus).

“There’s an uncompromising beauty to these works by the Iranian-born American composer. The opening title work, [The Strange Highway], for cello octet, is a wild, rhythmic ride, while the closing Metamorphosis of Narcissus offers some fantastic musical storytelling. Impressive.”
