Program Note:

In choosing to set Lux Aeterna, I was interested in the challenge of bringing my personal interpretation to a text that has a rich history of many settings by iconic composers.

While embracing the peaceful and tranquil nature of the text, I also wanted to create a sense of trajectory through the use of various textural and harmonic devices. This co-existence of stillness and motion gets at the essence of Lux Aeterna, and finds resolution in the serenity of the final chords.
